Some history of the Thurston County Area

Janine Gates is a 35 year resident of Olympia and owns a 104 year old house on Olympia’s eastside. A caregiver for seniors, as well as a freelance writer and photographer, she maintains a South Sound news blog called Little Hollywood, covering local land use, business, politics, social and cultural events, and community members. 

For ten years, she served on the board of the South Puget Environmental Education Clearinghouse (SPEECH) and was managing editor and contributor to its publication, the South Sound Green Pages.  She is a graduate of The Evergreen State College and has a degree in Communications and Community Development.

She serves on the board of the Olympia Historical Society and Bigelow House Museum.
